The municipal government of Nakano, Tokyo, will study the feasibility of opening the inside of Nogata Water Tower for public viewing.
I, Nakano-chan, the little bat, am looking forward to seeing it soon!
The project was made public as the municipal government submitted a report to the local assembly on Dec. 2, 2019, on a basic plan for the conservation and use of the former water supply tower built in 1929.
The local government will do quick repairs in fiscal 2020 and full repairs later while studing from fiscal 2021 how to make use of the 34-meter-tall structure.
Plans to be studied include opening it simply as a cultural property, using it as a concert hall, library, museum or sports facility, and allowing visitors to walk on the top of the tower.
